I’m venturing into the world of vlogging with a series called #braindump. I use direct address to talk to you, the viewer, I usually pick a topic and talk for about 15 minutes. There have been a few exceptions, but I’ve found that the 15 minute time frame works well for me.
In my videos, I’ve discussed topics like buddhism, recovery and loving kindness, the shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. In one video I even address ageism, especially as it relates to YouTube and the worship of youth in our culture.
As an older queer person, I have a unique story to tell. This format, and the platform of YouTube is a perfect way to bring my perspective of the world to light. As the project grows I’ll be looking for more topics to cover, more things to say. I don’t think I’m in any danger of running out of ideas, but the goal is to have viewer participation. I’ve said it before, artists don’t create in a vacuum.
I’d love to hear what you have to say about any one of these videos, and the project as a whole. Leave a comment below, or even better, head over to my personal YouTube channel and leave comments there and subscribe to the channel. If you have any topics you’d like to hear me talk about, let me know.
I hope you enjoy this project and that it inspires you to create something of your own.
