Poets on Video

Every so often my camera and I get the opportunity to capture poets on video. While there are only a few videos right now, as the Artistic Nomads travel more, I hope to record more poets performing their work. On this page you’ll find the poet Louise Robertson, from Columbus, Ohio, featured at Caffeine Corridor hosted at {9} Gallery, a long standing open mic and featured reader event in Phoenix, AZ. If you want to know more about Louise, you’ll have to ask her. I found her poetry powerful and moving. A refreshing and strong women’s voice. You’ll also find the Poet Joy Young, giving what was to be their last feature in at Caffeine Corridor in Phoenix. Joy is an award-winning poet who scored big at National Poetry Slam with a reading of Unbuttoning my boy shirt. Visit their website to learn more. You can also find Joy on YouTube through a simple search of their name. I had the pleasure of capturing the effervescent Rebecca Byrkit, reading at {9} Gallery in Phoenix, AZ. She was accompanied by Jerry Riopelle, a musician and song writer who I had seen many times in concert when I was in my teens. Meeting this icon of my youth was almost, but not quite, as exciting as seeing Becky again and watching her perform. We had worked together through the Tucson Poetry Festival in the mid-90’s, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to capture this performance. If you enjoy this and the other videos, please leave me a message.
